Super Bowl Showdown in Cedar Hill

A Brian & Sarah Relationship Sequel

Chapter 1 — Not Your Average Watch Party

Super Bowl Sunday in Cedar Hill had its own rhythm: grills firing early, flags hanging from porches, and families claiming their favorite recliners by noon. Brian Knox wasn’t much for football, but Sarah Jones sure was.

Which is why he agreed—reluctantly—to attend a small Super Bowl watch party at her house.

“You’ll have fun,” Sarah promised, tossing him a Cowboys blanket even though the Cowboys weren’t playing. “Myra’s bringing food. Lee’s bringing… Lee.”

Brian smirked. “Is that supposed to be a selling point?”

Sarah punched his arm lightly. “Be nice.”

But deep down, Brian didn’t mind. Since Christmas and New Year’s Eve, something warm and unmistakable had grown between them. Something he wasn’t used to. Something he wasn’t sure he deserved.

Today felt… important.

Chapter 2 — Trouble Arrives Wearing a Hoodie

Myra arrived first with buffalo chicken dip. Lee came right after carrying a cooler the size of a small submarine. The group had just gotten comfortable when a knock sounded at the door.

Sarah opened it—and blinked in surprise.

Standing there was a nervous teenage boy, maybe 16, wearing a hoodie and clutching a crumpled envelope.

“Miss Jones?” he asked. “I’m Jamie. I was told to find you.”

Sarah exchanged a look with Brian. “Find me for what?”

Jamie held up the envelope. “My older brother, Tyler… he’s missing.”

Brian’s expression tightened instantly.

Jamie added softly, “He said if anything happened, give you this.”

Sarah took the letter and unfolded it. Her eyes widened as she read.

“What is it?” Brian asked.

Sarah slowly sat down. “Tyler’s been working part-time at a warehouse in Midlothian. He thinks the place is being used for illegal shipments. He overheard enough to scare him. And now he’s disappeared.”

Brian stood, all business. “We’ll go check it out.”

Sarah hesitated only a second before grabbing her coat. “Myra, Lee—you stay with Jamie.”

Lee raised a hand. “Hold on. Why do the two of you get to go on all the dangerous missions? My truck got stolen once. I’m basically trained.”

Myra groaned. “Oh my God, Lee, stop.”

But Sarah smiled. “Stay with the kid. That’s important too.”

Brian threw him a look. “And don’t let him near the chicken dip. You’ll lose a finger.”

Chapter 3 — The Warehouse in the Dark

Brian and Sarah drove toward Midlothian, the Super Bowl broadcast still audible from a neighbor’s yard as they pulled away.

The warehouse Tyler had mentioned sat on the edge of an industrial strip—lights on, but no cars parked in front. Suspicious already.

Brian scanned the structure. “One guard inside, maybe two. No cameras. Place isn’t meant to be noticed.”

Sarah whispered, “Break in?”

Brian grinned. “Lady, this is my love language.”

Sarah elbowed him. “We’re working, Knox.”

They slipped inside through a side door. The interior smelled like oil, dust, and one more thing:

Cologne.

Strong cologne.

Someone had been here recently.

Brian pointed to footprints in the dirt. “Two sets. One heavy. One lighter—teenage, maybe.”

Sarah followed the trail to a storage room. The door was unlocked.

Inside, they found:

A phone. A jacket. Tyler’s wallet.

But no Tyler.

Brian muttered, “Whoever took him left in a hurry.”

Then they heard voices—two men near the front.

“… kid heard too much.”

“… boss said take him to the trailer until after the game.”

Sarah signaled to Brian. “We need to follow them.”

Brian nodded. “Got your back.”

He didn’t just mean in the warehouse.

She knew it.

Chapter 4 — Fourth Quarter Rescue

The men loaded into a beat-up silver SUV and pulled away. Brian and Sarah trailed them at a distance through backroads. They stopped at a run-down trailer near an old gravel pit south of Cedar Hill.

A dim light flickered inside.

Brian’s jaw tightened. “Tyler’s in there.”

They waited until the men went inside, then moved fast. Brian slipped in through the back, Sarah through the front. In seconds, they had the two captors on the ground—Brian using an arm lock, Sarah using words sharp enough to cut steel.

They found Tyler tied to a chair but unharmed.

“You’re safe,” Sarah said, cutting him free. “Your brother came to us.”

Tyler sniffed. “I knew you’d help.”

Brian checked the area. “We need to go. More might come.”

Sirens wailed in the distance—Myra had contacted Cedar Hill PD when Jamie gave her more details.

As the three slipped outside, Sarah looked at Brian. “You okay?”

Brian smirked. “You worry about me?”

Sarah gave him a soft smile. “Always.”

Chapter 5 — The Kiss That Couldn’t Wait

Police were taking statements when Brian and Sarah returned to the SUV. Tyler was safe. The captors were arrested. The illegal shipment ring was going to crumble.

They sat quietly in the car, the glow of halftime fireworks lighting the night sky.

Sarah finally spoke. “Brian… earlier, you said breaking into warehouses was your love language.”

Brian rubbed the back of his neck. “I was joking. Mostly.”

She laughed softly. “What I’m trying to say is… I like this. Us. But it scares me.”

Brian looked at her then—not with his usual intensity, but with something gentler.

“Sarah… I’ve survived a lot. But letting someone in?”

He exhaled. “That scares me too. But I want this. And I want you.”

Sarah swallowed. “Good.”

Then she leaned across the console and kissed him.

Slow. Warm. Real.

A touchdown fireworks burst in the distance—perfect timing.

Lee’s voice suddenly crackled over Sarah’s speakerphone (apparently pocket-dialed):

“HEY, YOU GUYS COMING BACK? YOU MISSED A WHOLE HALF AND I’M OUT OF WINGS!”

They both burst into laughter.

Brian whispered, “We should probably go rescue him from himself.”

Sarah kissed him once more. “After that kiss, he can wait.”

Epilogue — A New Team

When they returned to the house, Myra knew immediately.

Lee didn’t—until Myra elbowed him hard.

“OH!” Lee exclaimed. “You two are—like—official now!”

Brian groaned. Sarah blushed. Myra clapped.

Jamie grinned, relieved and safe beside his brother.

The game played on, but no one really cared.

Tonight, the real victory was something else:

Brian and Sarah finally letting their barriers fall.

And as the camera panned across the celebrating stadium, Sarah leaned against Brian’s shoulder.

This time, he didn’t flinch.

He belonged right there.
